★Frequently asked questions
Is Parolejo free?
Yes, completely. There are no ads, no accounts, and no in-app purchases.
Does it work offline?
Fully. All lessons, audio, and the dictionary are bundled in the app, so no internet connection is needed after you install it.
How do I change the language the course is taught in?
Go to Settings → Course language and choose from the 31 available languages. You are also prompted to choose on first launch. Esperanto itself stays Esperanto; this sets the language of the translations and explanations.
How is my progress saved?
Locally on your device. The Courses tab shows your next lesson and how many of the 12 lessons you have completed. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.
How do I reset my progress?
Settings → Reset all data erases your lesson progress, saved exercise answers, and settings. This cannot be undone.
How do I type the Esperanto letters (Ĉ Ĝ Ĥ Ĵ Ŝ Ŭ)?
Use the x-system in exercises and the dictionary: type
cx for ĉ, gx for ĝ, hx for
ĥ, jx for ĵ, sx for ŝ, and
ux for ŭ. Answers are accepted in either form.
How do I hear how a word is pronounced?
In a lesson's Text tab, long-press a word to hear it. Flashcards and dictionary results also have a speaker button. Each lesson has full narration audio as well.
What is the difference between Course and All in the Dictionary?
Course searches the words taught in the 12 lessons. All also searches the full ESPDIC Esperanto-English dictionary. If a course search finds nothing, you can switch to All in one tap.
I found a mistake in a lesson or a dictionary entry.
The lesson texts are reproduced verbatim from the original course (licensed CC BY-ND), so they are intentionally left exactly as published. For dictionary entries or app problems, please email support@parolejo.app or open a GitHub issue.
Who made the course content?
Parolejo reproduces Esperanto in 12 Lessons (Zagreb method). The original course lives at esperanto12.net; full credits and licensing are on the home page and in the app's About screen. Parolejo is an unofficial project, not affiliated with the course authors or UEA.
